Under the protection of Mary
“Music is the language of the soul, and through it, we draw closer to the divine.”
- St. Augustine
Kevin Anderson is an accomplished musician with a lifelong passion for serving the Catholic Church as an instrumentalist, vocalist, and, most recently, as a composer and lyricist. He is academically trained in both classical and jazz music through his studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Kevin sings, plays the trumpet, piano, and acoustic guitar, and has extensive experience performing and leading in both large and small group settings.
Kevin seeks to promote a deeper sense of worship within the community by drawing on inspired themes that range from the ancient to the newly revealed. His goal is to create easy-to-sing congregational songs that engage worshippers spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually, while proclaiming the Gospel in a fresh yet relatable manner.

My Lord and My God
This song is inspired by love for the Eucharist. The verses bring us through salvation history, using Eucharistic types drawn from the Old Testament, and finishing with Eucharistic acts lived out by Jesus.
The title, “My Lord and My God”, is the great confession of St. Thomas, one that is commonly (and silently) prayed by participants at the moment of the consecration in which the priest elevates the host and the chalice after declaring “This is my Body” and “This is my Blood”.
